It is time to drive our horses back to the Great Caucasus Mountains. This is a long way up to there. This first part of the whole transhumance starts at the wintering place, close to the desert. We explore first during 4 days the desert area and its natural reserve before riding over a first mountain chain called Gombori. We finally ride across the Alazani valley to reach the foot of the Great Caucasus Mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This 7 days transhumance offers spectacular sceneries, hidden paths and monasteries dating back the 6th century, a crossing over Gombori at 2000m high with amazing panorama on the snowcapped Caucasus Mountains and the desert we just crossed and the huge Alazani valley and its vineyards. The highlight is undeniably the crossing of the 3 ecosystems offering an incredible diversity of landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We probably meet some shepherds on our way on the wintering territory, some monks who inhabited some of the dweller city caves. We ride the Tush horses, the local bred of the Caucasus Mountains. We are mostly away from touristic trails.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
