SUMMARY:WINTER TRANSHUMANCE part 2 2023 / GUARANTEE
DESCRIPTION:\n\nIt is time to drive our horses back to the winter pasture. The horses are already down in the valley and the longest way is ahead of us. This long eastern Georgia crossing takes us over the Gombori range. The crests culminate at more than 2000m high and offer some amazing landscapes over the Kakheti valley, the snowcapped mountains of the Great Caucasus range and the desert area. Riding down to the desert we experience the changes of the ecosystems. Once in the desert area, we explore the surroundings and its natural reserve. This 7 days transhumance offers spectacular sceneries, hidden paths and monasteries dating back the 6th century. The highlight is obviously to ride across 3 ecosystems during the trail. The diversity of the landscapes will amaze you. We probably meet some shepherds on our way on the wintering territory, some monks who inhabited some of the dweller city caves. We ride the Tush horses, the local bred of the Caucasus Mountains. We are mostly away from touristic trails.\n\n\n\n\n\n
